What Interior Prep Work Is Included?

FAQ

All furnishing and floors will be covered and protected as needed with the use of: drop cloths, brown construction paper, carpet protector, and/or plastic.

  • Surfaces will be prepped based on the specific needs of each surface by means of: washing, scraping, patching, and/or caulking.

  • Walls will be scraped, patched, and/or sanded as needed.

  • Wall and ceiling cracks are to be filled with the appropriate drywall/patching compound and sanded smooth.

  • Larger cracks or holes will receive an application of fiberglass joint tape or patch kits, then are to be coated with the appropriate drywall/patching compound and sanded smooth.

  • Glossy surfaces and trim will be cleaned, and/or scuff sanded to promote proper paint adhesion. In some cases, a glossy surface will require the application of a bonding primer to ensure proper paint adhesion.

  • Scrape and sand rough/bare wood areas due to previous paint failures when present.

  • Caulk cracks/open seams along wood trim where wood intersects wood and/or where wood trim intersects wall substrates. Steadfast Painting Solutions Corp only caulks visible seams between two included surfaces unless requested otherwise by the customer. Caulking along a seam in which an adjacent substrate is not included may result in a limited ability for Steadfast Painting Solutions Corp to provide clean paint lines along those seams due to the composition and application process of caulking material.

  • All new/raw substrates will be primed as needed.

  • Apply a stain sealer to water and tannin wood stains.

  • Work areas will be cleaned-up; swept/vacuumed, and debris/garbage removed from the property.

  • Hardware to be removed and re-installed as needed: curtain rods, window latches, switch/outlet cover plates, air vents, and/or doorknobs. Steadfast Painting Solutions Corp does not remove hardware such as: thermostats, alarm systems, visibly old/brittle hardware, or hardware that has been painted over previously.
