Ravinia Festival®, North America’s oldest music festival, stands today as its most musically diverse, presenting a large variety of different events throughout the summer. The 36-acre park is nestled in a gently wooded area that makes it an enchanting place to experience music. Guests can bring their own picnics or eat at one of the park restaurants. When and where does the sun set today? What if you were… in Iceland? Learn about the summer solstice, trace some shadows, and make your own solar motion model to track the motion of the sun anywhere in the world! Preregistration required.

Sweet summertime fun returns when Strawberry Festival, an annual family tradition, takes over historic downtown Long Grove. Attendees of all ages can expect three days of strawberry-infused foods and drinks, carnival rides, family activities, and live music on three stages. Savor unique strawberry-centric cuisine and a wide variety of non-strawberry-centric summertime delights.

Celebrate Fox Lake takes place on the Saturday before Independence Day and starts with a parade and ends with fireworks to cap off the night.  There’s fun for everyone at this celebration at Lakefront Park with live music, food and drink.

July 13

Experience a day of gorgeous gardens, education, and fun! This self-guided drive will feature gardens in Crystal Lake, Woodstock, Lake in the Hills, and McHenry. Experience colorful gardens studded with artwork, edible plots, and more. You’ll learn many new things as you enjoy the diversity of these beautiful spaces. Tickets required.

July 18 - 21

Come experience the spectacular world of Cirque Italia, as the high-energy acts swing from ropes, flip over trapezes, and zip by on BMX bikes and roller skates—pushing the boundaries of human ability. Don’t miss this “Aquatic Spectacular” with a custom designed water stage that holds 35,000 gallons of water featuring curtains of rain and fountain jets crisscross in time to each move. Laser lights and bubbles also add to the interdimensional effect that dazzle overhead while thrilling the audience with every move.

Ahoy me hearties! Let’s get this ship to shore. The lake is as unpredictable as the sea—how can you safely land your ship and not end up… a shipwreck? Shipwrights, use recycled materials to build a mini-ship to launch in the first Rosewood Recycled Regatta! Pilot your ship back to shore safely for a share of “treasure”! For kids 6 and up

Embark on an extraordinary journey with Jr. The Clown in "Jr’s Big Adventure", a spectacle featuring performers from over 22 countries. Now celebrating its 95th year the Lake County Fair is back with a fair of Olympic proportions! from ferris wheels to funnel cakes, motocross, monter trucks, a demo derby, bull riding, pig races, competitions and food there’s something for everyone! All grandstand and arena events are free with admission.
